Pretty Clever Pants are a range of 'protective' underwear by TV presenter Carol Smillie that have a concealed waterproof layer. They apparently offer women 'that extra peace of mind and comfort' - which in non-sale speak means that if you have a leak due to your period or have incontinence they should help mop you up.

Stress incontinence affects an estimated 1 in 3 women in the UK and is also known as  ‘sensitive bladder’, or ‘pelvic floor weakness’. This means that nine million women are probably worrying about laughing too hard or sneezing...

Over to Carol: "We underestimated the level of taboo that still surrounds this whole topic. This is a big step towards getting this sensitive but very common problem out in the open and getting more people talking about it."

We haven't tried them (have you?) but we have heard that they are soft, comfy and you can pop them in the washing machine.

They don't just come in comfy cotton but a range of other looks too. Their newest style is called Black Lace and features black lace floral side panels, and a high waisted design with tummy shaping control, as well as the built-in waterproof panel. They come in sizes 6-24 which is good as my bum looks nothing like the model's below.

Apparently when Kate Winslet said ‘by the third sneeze it’s game over’ on Graham Norton’s TV show, sales of Pretty Clever Pants went up.

Pretty clever that.
